Here’s to Orks, patience, and a good laugh while the paint dries. I’m currently building and painting an Ork force for Warhammer 40k—properly this time. Instead of slapping it together and believing Gork (or possibly Mork) will sort it, I’m taking it slow: scraping mould lines, test-fitting, and giving each Boy the love he deserves. In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war… but here in Lithgow there’s also good coffee, friendly hobby chats, and a Thursday games night where you can roll dice and show off your latest work.

For painting, Citadel Colour Contrast paints make green skin pop with minimal fuss—then pick out teeth, straps, and metal with a few tidy layers. Stuff up a check pattern? No drama. Paint is forgiving, and every mistake is just another layer of character on a proper Orky masterpiece. Keep at it, never give up, and you’ll be chuffed with the results.
