There’s a moment that happens in almost every tech class. Someone asks a question, you answer it, and you can see in their face that something just clicked. That moment is why we teach. And now, with our brand new dedicated training room at Lithgeek, we have the perfect space to make it happen more often.
A Proper Space for Proper Learning
We’ve just finished setting up our new training room at 85 Main Street Lithgow — a private, comfortable space designed specifically for learning. It’s not a shop floor with distractions. It’s not a kitchen table with bad lighting. It’s a proper room with a big screen, a relaxed atmosphere, and space for up to six people. Whether you’re coming in for a one-on-one session or joining a small group, you’ll have our full attention.
We Speak English, Not Techno-Babble
Before we get into what the classes actually are, let’s talk about how we teach — because that matters more than the curriculum.
Computers are tools. Nobody is born knowing how to use a wrench, and nobody is born knowing how to use a Mac. The only difference is that somewhere along the way, tech people started speaking their own language and forgot that not everyone else speaks it too. We don’t do that. We believe in plain English, zero jargon, and zero judgment. We’re your guide — not your guru.
We also read the room. If something isn’t landing, we change tack. If everyone is already across a topic, we move on. Every class is a live, flexible conversation — not a scripted lecture. That’s not something you’ll get from a YouTube tutorial.
Three Ways to Learn — Pick What Works for You
Group Classes are perfect if you like learning alongside others in a structured environment. Small groups of up to six people mean you always get genuine attention, not just a seat in a crowd. Topics are chosen to suit the group, and questions are always welcome.
Personal One-on-One Classes are exactly what they sound like — private, focused, and entirely built around you. We only cover what you want to learn. No homework. No memorisation. No topics you didn’t ask for. Just your questions, your pace, and your goals. These run at $75 per hour and can cover anything from iPhone basics to scam protection to photo editing.
Bring Your Own Project is our most unique offering — and honestly one of our favourites. For $50 per person, you get two hours to work on whatever you’re actually trying to do right now. Stuck setting up your email? Trying to figure out iCloud? Not sure how to edit a video? Bring it. You ask your question, we put the answer up on the big screen, and everyone in the room learns together.
Here’s the magic of Bring Your Own Project though — you never know who else will be sitting next to you. The person across the table might just happen to be the expert in exactly the thing you’re struggling with. We’ve seen it happen more than once. There’s something genuinely special about a room full of people all trying to figure things out together.
Who Is This For?
Seniors and adults who feel left behind by technology. People who’ve been meaning to ask someone for help but didn’t know where to go. Anyone who’s ever felt embarrassed to ask a question they thought they “should already know.” Anyone whose grandkids are moving too fast. Anyone who just bought a new device and has no idea where to start.
You don’t need any prior knowledge. You don’t need to be a geek. You just need to show up.
A Word About Our Chief Comfort Officer
One more thing worth mentioning — you may have company during your class. Astro, our shop dog, has a habit of wandering into the training room and making himself at home. He’s not a trained service animal, but nobody seems to have told him that. Astro has an uncanny ability to find exactly the person in the room who could use a quick cuddle, and he takes that responsibility very seriously. Feeling a little nervous about asking what might seem like a silly question? Astro doesn’t think any question is silly. He’ll be on his mat in the corner, available for moral support, stress relief, and the occasional distraction when things get a bit too serious. Learning new technology can feel overwhelming — we think having a dog around helps. And judging by the feedback, we’re not wrong.

Come and See Us
The training room is ready. The kettle is on. We’d love to have you in.
