Upon our arrival in the picturesque town of Lithgow, a tranquil oasis nestled in the embrace of the Australian landscape, little did we know that our journey here would be marked by a profound connection to the community and an enduring love for this charming locale. It was a few months before the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic when we, Marc and myself, found ourselves drawn to the welcoming embrace of Lithgow.
Fate had an interesting twist in store for us, as Mac found himself facing the unexpected reality of redundancy from his computer repair job in Katoomba, coinciding with the advent of nationwide lockdowns. With newfound challenges looming on the horizon, we embarked on a quest to reinvent our career paths. It was during this pivotal moment that we decided to take a bold leap into entrepreneurship, opening our very own shop specializing in Mac and phone repairs, a venture we were passionate about.
As conscientious neighbors, we were eager to extend a hand of camaraderie to the existing computer repair shops in the town. Our first port of call was Lithgow Tech, a renowned establishment in the realm of computer services. It was here that we had the distinct pleasure of meeting Jackie, the face behind the business.
Anticipating the natural course of competition, we were taken aback by Jackie’s unexpected generosity and support. Instead of viewing us as adversaries, she embraced us as allies, offering her guidance and assistance. What began with a few simple referrals quickly blossomed into a collaboration that exceeded our expectations. Jackie graciously permitted us to meet with clients in her shop, fostering a sense of community that transcended mere business transactions. Before we knew it, Mac was renting a desk in the back of her shop, where he expertly performed iMac and MacBook repairs.
Time has a way of revealing the true extent of partnerships, and as our endeavors continued to flourish, even that modest desk at the back of the shop began to feel cramped. It was then that we took the bold step of establishing our own venture, MacMason Training and Repairs, conveniently located next door to Lithgow Tech Services. To our delight, Jackie extended her helping hand once more, even aiding us in navigating the intricacies of rent negotiations.
A year elapsed, marked by collaboration, growth, and shared values. It was during this period that Jackie approached us with unexpected newsโshe intended to sell her beloved business, Lithgow Tech Pc Repairs. The prospect of a change in ownership would typically evoke uncertainty, but Jackie’s unwavering commitment to treating customers as neighbors rather than mere walking wallets mirrored our own ethos.
Thus, an opportunity arose that felt like fate itself had intervened. Jackie graciously extended us the chance to acquire her business, a legacy we had come to admire and respect deeply.
As we embark on this new chapter, we, Kevin (affectionately known as “MAC”), bring a wealth of experience garnered from 15 years in the retail industry in the United States and a significant tenure with Apple. We possess a keen understanding of the diverse needs and preferences of both computer enthusiasts and the technologically inclined.
So what is new?
Under the banner of Lithgow Tech Services, we are committed to evolving and enhancing the offerings at our shop. Our vision encompasses catering to a broader clientele, including avid gamers, passionate Twitch streamers, podcasters, and other digital creatives. While we remain dedicated to stocking essential products that cater to everyone’s needs, we are excited to introduce a diverse range of gaming computers and custom computer-building services.
Our journey in Lithgow continues with the same love and dedication that brought us here, and we look forward to serving the community with excellence, integrity, and a deep appreciation for the bonds we have forged. The future holds promise, and together with our valued customers, we are eager to explore the endless possibilities that lie ahead.
We have a new tech on staff who is a computer geek who has an amazing knack for finding the real problem with Windows Computers.
So what is staying the same?
Our Love of Lithgow will stay the same. We love the idea that people will come into our shop with all kinds of problems. We are going to apply the “If we can fix it in less than 15 minutes it’s Free” So our customers can feel comfortable in asking about those pesky computer problems without fear of being charged.
Oh and the smiles are always free ๐
