jack o lantern

Just for fun post getting ready for Lithgow Halloween.

I thought it might be fun to ask Chat-GPT to write a blog post as a Mad Scientist!

Ah, gather ’round, my dear friends, for I, Dr. Ignatius Mac. Cyberstein, the world’s foremost computer virtuoso, shall elucidate the enigma that is computer repair! In this mysterious and spine-tingling narrative, we delve into the darkest corners of the digital realm, as if it were a haunted house in the heart of Lithgow on Halloween night!

Imagine, if you will, the ethereal glow of computer screens flickering in the inky darkness of a haunted mansion. Just like the chilling shivers that run down your spine on a spooky All Hallows’ Eve, computers too can suffer from maladies that send them spiraling into the abyss. But fret not, for in the world of computer repair, there exists a cryptic art that can resurrect these lifeless machines.

Much like a sorcerer deciphering ancient incantations, computer repair technicians unravel the web of cables and circuits that make up these electronic apparitions. They are armed with arcane knowledge and wield tools that spark with electrical energy.

When the spirits of these machines grow restless and refuse to boot, it takes the steady hand of a computer repair maestro to coax them back from the brink. Troubleshooting, a process as cryptic as an ancient spell, is initiated. The repairer examines the eerie error messages and diagnostic codes that haunt the screen, attempting to decipher their eldritch meanings.

A chilling silence descends as they work their magic, dissecting the haunted innards of the computer, swapping out possessed components, and casting away malicious software like a fearless exorcist ridding a haunted dwelling of its malevolent specters.

And lo and behold, as the clock strikes midnight on Halloween in Lithgow, the computer springs to life once more, its pixelated eyes gleaming with newfound vitality. The spirits have been pacified, the mysteries unraveled, and the beast subdued.

So, my friends, on this spine-tingling journey into the world of computer repairs, remember that just as the bravest souls dare to explore the darkest corners of a haunted house, there are those among us who fearlessly tread into the digital abyss to bring your beloved devices back from the brink. And thus, the enigma of computer repair remains, a tale as timeless and mysterious as the spooky Halloween night itself!

Now for Repair Horror Stories

These are real stories of repair horrors!

10 years ago I was working at a computer shop and a man gave me his Laptop for repair. He said it would not turn on. That day I had a cold and a stuffy nose and figured I would take the computer back and open it up and grab a tissue on the way.

On the way to the computer repair room, my manager passed me and then called me into his office for something urgent. “We need to have a talk about your drinking while at work” I was confused because I don’t drink much and never while working.

“I don’t drink that much … I said .. “

“Kevin I can smell it on you!! ” said my Manager

Confused because honestly, I don’t drink much at all. I felt something wet on my foot. I looked down to see the computer leaking beer, and lots of it out of the USB ports.

My manager looked down and saw what was happening and said “I’m sorry …..ummm good work … I think it’s dead”

I went to give the bad news to the customer. Who refused to believe me the computer was dead. He pushed the power button and like a zombie the computer started … one … last … time ..
