Solid State drives are the best upgrade for an old computer

We all have old computers, sometimes buying a new computer all the time is not the best idea. This is when upgrades come in. But what is the best hardware upgrade? We think tat solid state drives are the best upgrade for your money. Here is why

Upgrade your old hard drive to solid state.dive

Solid state drives have no moving parts.

Your old hard dive is basically a digital record player. Spinning wheel and an arm that does the reading. While that is good tech that has served us well for some time, it does have its problems.

If the motor or the arm starts to fail this can lead to data loss or at least slow operations.

A solid state drive is closer to a USB stick but very very big and fast. This means that it can hold more data and move data faster than a traditional hard dive.

Resistant to physical damage

I want to stress the “Resistant” part of this conversation. It still can be broken. However in conpairison to traditional drives this is a MAJOR improvement. Traditional drives are very fragile. A single bump and you can have some serious problems

Better than a RAM upgrade.

While there will always be need for RAM upgrades a big problem with computers being slow is the amount to time it takes for the data to move from the drive to the processor.

Older drives are limited by how fast the motor can spin. Where Solid state drives have less issue when it comes to data speeds. (It is still a factor but still faster than an old hard dive)
