My Digital 2024 Goals

As someone with ADHD, making and sticking to New Year’s resolutions can be a challenge. However, I’m eager to outline some personal and professional goals for 2024, especially in areas where technology intersects with my passions and work.

Embracing AI in Business

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is often misunderstood, sometimes feared, even by those who might use overly simplistic passwords. Yet, I find AI to be an incredibly exciting field, ripe for exploration in everyday applications. In 2024, I plan to delve deeper into using AI for practical tasks in our business. It’s not just about leveraging technology; it’s about staying ahead in an ever-evolving digital world.

Expanding Python Skills

During the COVID-19 lockdown, I self-taught Python programming, which led to the creation of “Leo” – a software tool we use in our shop. Leo automates the process of reading email forms, updating our Obsidian database, and printing job sheets, saving us precious minutes with each customer. This year, I aim to deepen my Python knowledge. The language’s versatility in web scraping, automation, and data analytics makes it not just a useful skill but a fun one too.

Diving into MS Windows

I have long been a Mac and Linux enthusiast, skills that set me apart in Lithgow. However, my experience with Windows is outdated (stopping at XP), leading me to hire a Windows specialist for our shop. Recognizing the importance of continuous learning, I plan to familiarize myself with the latest in Windows technology. After all, what distinguishes a true computer expert is the never-ending pursuit of knowledge.

Expanding Educational Offerings

Teaching is a passion of mine, particularly classes for seniors, helping them overcome tech anxieties. This year, I aim to expand our class offerings, exploring new topics and perhaps bringing in additional experts to share their knowledge.

Pursuing Digital Art

Lastly, my love for digital art continues to grow. With my new X-Pen drawing tablet, I look forward to dedicating more time to my digital comic project. It’s a creative outlet that balances my technical pursuits.

In summary, 2024 is about building on existing skills, exploring new technological frontiers, and sharing knowledge. It’s a journey of continuous growth and embracing the exciting possibilities that technology offers.”
