Run by literal Silicon Valley refugees, our staff has a combined two decades of experience in Apple, Windows and Linux systems.
We speak Geek, but we have not forgotten how to keep the human touch.
Meet our People!
Kevin “Mac” Mason was born on a farm in regional California and grew up in and around the state capital of Sacramento. He is a first generation GEEK and tabletop RPG Master, was an early adopter of all things internet, worked for start-up ISP’s, Intel and Apple Computers. In 2005 he became part of the new PodCast Scene and remains intermittently involved as an artist and content creator to this day. He also met his now wife in 2005 and promised to follow her to the ends of the Earth. She held him to that and the family migrated to Sydney in 2010. In AU he has also worked for Apple and Apple adjacent service industries until his Covid redundancy.
Marcia Ruf is a 4th generation San Francisco gal who has been visiting her Aussie mates off and on since 1986 when she fell head over heels in love with the country. She is a legal scholar, experienced company director, admitted solicitor and soon to be Master of Ag Science graduate. In 2005 she met this Geek who introduced her to podcasting and it became a foundation for her legal studies in Intellectual Property and Media Law. Marcia has a neurologically wired passion for justice that expresses itself in entrepreneurial problem solving, community volunteering, disability advocacy and the occasional calling out of bullies. She graduated with a JD in the US just in time to become a Global Financial Crisis refugee and realise that she did not want her child to attend a high school that had a metal detector at its entrance. She arrived as a policy analyst skilled migrant in 2010, was admitted as a solicitor in NSW, completed a Master of Research in Copyright and New Media Law, worked in legal publishing and then ran away from the city to the mountains.
In December 2019 Kevin and Marcia finally managed the Australian Dream of Home Ownership just in time for …. FIRE, FLOOD, COVID. New redundancy plus Covid equals …. Start a business! They founded MacMason as a mobile Apple and smart phone repair and training service in November 2020, got their first shop front in August 2022 – thanks to the support of long time Lithgow Technology Services owner Jackie. They have been Chamber of Commerce members since 2022 and Marcia served as the Chambers Treasurer from March 2022 until July 2024. When Jackie wanted to retire they agreed to step in to her impossible to fill shoes and purchased Lithgow Technology in September 2023.
Since then, they have partnered with Customer Service Savant, local farmer and all-around amazeballs Human, Tracy Collins and the wildly overqualified Windows and IT technician Felipe Plaza AKA Bat Man to expand tech offerings in the region and put their own flare to the shop.
As of 1 October 2024, Lithgow Technology Services and MacMason Training and repairs will be the greater sum of its parts, known as LithGeek.
