Finding the right shop pet turned out to be harder than you’d think. Fish are beautiful, but the space and specialised care required to keep them healthy quickly ruled them out. Cats? Absolute chaos around sensitive hardware — they have zero respect for ESD ESD — Electrostatic Discharge. A single invisible zap from a curious paw (or curious finger) can silently destroy a computer’s internals before you know anything has gone wrong. Enter Astro The Wonder Dog — the perfect solution we didn’t know we needed.

ASTRO’S RECOVERY
The good news: Astro is recovering well. In fact, he has made it very clear that recovering at home is simply not an option. Every morning, if his work harness isn’t on by 8:45 AM, he starts letting us know about it.
Once he arrives at the shop, Astro begins his rounds. He checks that all staff have shown up for their shifts — they always do, but that’s beside the point. After a thorough audit of the team, he makes his way straight to his “Office” in the front window, where he keeps watch over Lithgow with the quiet authority of a dog who takes his responsibilities very seriously.
ASTRO TAKES HIS JOB SERIOUSLY
Astro is a full member of the Lithgeek team — with an official job description to match.
Greeting every customer who walks through the door
Assisting at our Seniors Tech Classes — moral support is a legitimate skill set
Alerting the team to the presence of other dogs in the vicinity (very diligently)
BALL!!!
COME SAY HELLO
Astro is in-store most days — stationed at his front-window office, monitoring foot traffic and accepting pats from approved visitors. If you’re coming in for a repair, a tech question, or just to browse, there’s a good chance you’ll be greeted before you even reach the counter.
We’re glad to have him. The shop is a much better place with Astro in it.
He was injured and needed surgery and we could not leave him alone at home with the other dog … He decided he liked going to work ….. and sort of made it is job to greet everyone in the shop!
Astro is very friendly. He has never tried to bite anyone. However like all dogs you should always watch is body language. We do have him behind a playpen just in case.
That is up to Astro … he is very good at letting people know If it is ok to pet him or not. If his tail is wagging it is ok.
Astro is a dog .. so no … but he does like to join Senior tech classes to help keep the mood light and fun!
No Astro comes home with us… besides he missies his big sister if they are gone too long.
We do have a “Tip Jar” for those who would like to give astro a tip. That money is going to be used to pay for his surgery.
Astro at the time of this blog post is just over 16 months old.
We ask that you do not give him a treat as he will ask for a treat from everyone and get fat. He is a charmer
