His Full Name
Right. Let’s start here because this is important.
Astro’s full, official, legally recognised (by us, anyway) name is:
Astro, Bowie, Sono, Son of Mogh, Destroyer of Worlds
Yes. That is his name. All of it. We are completely serious.
He also goes by Mighty Mite and The Battle Slinky, depending on what he’s doing at the time.
And here’s the thing β if you come into the shop and recite his full name correctly, we will give you $25 off the labour cost of your repair. We are not joking. It is programmed into our register. It is a real thing you can do. Go on.
The Questions We Get Asked About Astro
Why do his front legs look like that?
Astro has what’s known as “Ballet Feet” β a condition that’s actually fairly common in Dachshunds. His front legs turn outward in a way that looks a bit like a dancer mid-pliΓ©. At the moment it doesn’t cause him any real trouble, though he does get a little sore when the cold sets in. As with most dogs, Astro does not consider his condition any kind of obstacle. He would happily run a marathon if there was a snack waiting at the finish line. This is simply who he is.
How are Astro’s hips going?
He’s doing well, thanks for asking β and people do ask, genuinely, which says a lot about the kind of customers we have. He limps a little in the cold, but his general outlook on life remains aggressively optimistic. The tail wags. The eyes are bright. He seems, by all available evidence, very happy.
Does Astro know any tricks?
Not really, no. Astro is a companion, not a performer. He is here to be present, to be patted, and occasionally to supervise repairs from a comfortable position on the floor. You would never guess from the size of his fan club that he has absolutely no formal skills to speak of. The people love him anyway. We think that’s the right call.
